The History and Tree Care Philosophy of
Juneau Trees & Landcape

Our History

Mike Juneau of Juneau Trees & Landcape, Inc.

As a 5-year old boy, I climbed my first tree in the backyard of my family's home in the Seabeck area. I've had a passion for climbing and learning about trees ever since.

I'm intrigued by the complexity of our native Kitsap forests, the protective habitat they provide for local wildlife and plant life, and the enduring appeal with which they surround our homes and our private and public landscapes.

I've been working with trees for over 25 years now, at first as a young naturalist, and then during summers as I worked my way through university. Today, I enjoy resolving tree issues for our customers, and optimizing the care and management of trees for the enjoyment of future generations. We're making a difference in our Kitsap and Bainbridge Island communities—one customer's trees at a time.

Our Tree Care Philosophy

We are a family-owned and operated tree service business, serving Kitsap County and Bainbridge Island since 2000.

As an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, I am committed to providing sound advice and expert care of your trees, large and small. I, and the ISA Certified Arborists I employ, have a diversity of knowledge in tree care, including structural inspection and diagnostics, pruning, pest and disease identification, care of aging trees, and pre-construction tree protection.

We gently inform your decisions, drawing from a diverse knowledge of trees, landscape design, and the needs of plants and wildlife nearby. We focus on achieving YOUR goals for the trees in your yard without endangering the health or safety of your trees.

Our Approach to Tree Removal

Sometimes a tree needs to be removed because it has become unreasonably dangerous, crowded too closely with other trees or structures, or to make way for improvements in the property around your home. We work to protect your valuable property, landscape, and nearby trees throughout the process, using innovative techniques for tree removal. We do a great cleanup too, so you can focus on important things.

How We Are Different

The profession of tree care (arboriculture) has made great scientific advancements in recent years, significantly changing the way we care for trees. While we have respect for "old school" wisdom, an important part of our business philosophy is "continuing education." This includes attending workshops and training conferences presented by the International Society of Arboriculture and other educational opportunities each year.

We also contribute to support research and advancement of our profession. Trees are amazing, complex organisms. Understanding better how they work is a critical step towards improving our care for them.

As the owner, my background includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture
  • ISA Board Certified Master Arborist Certification
  • PNW-ISA Certified Tree Risk Assessor Certification
  • Certificate of Integrated Pest Management (WSU Cooperative Extension)
  • A passion for helping our clients enjoy, appreciate, and care for their trees!
ISA Certification Triangle

Board Certified Master Arborist is the most complete certification offered by the ISA. It is a designation awarded to those with a superior understanding of tree science, management, and practice.
